Home is Where Family Lives

Today is such a beautiful day, the sun is out, the sky is blue, and the air is cool. I'm blessed to have this opportunity to live in another state. Alaska is absolutely gorgeous but it is not my home. Home is where your family lives. I'm so excited to be moving back east. There is at least another year here though, until about this time next year.
I'm still unsure as to what I will do when I get back to the Carolinas. The dream for me is to open a bakery. There are no classes here to take in community college for baking, so I must wait until I get back east. I'm trying to encourage my husband to finish up his college. I would love it if he picked business as a degree. A business degree could help out with the bakery. All we can do right now is pray and leave it in God's hands.
I sure wish that the summer weather in Alaska could be sent to the Carolinas for the summer. Alaska does not have humidity like the south. I do miss the Carolinas winters though. Don't get me wrong, I love snow but I'm not used to getting so much. I know my family and friends will be happy to have me back home close to them. I sure will be happy to get back there as well.
If you are as close to your family as I am then you know that home is where your family lives. Other then that I may say home is where the heart is.

P.S. When I say family I mean it to include friends because our friends are considered family.

The above picture is of North Carolina.

4th Of July

What is it about the 4th of July that makes me want to listen to country music? Well I would probably say Toby Keith. He sure has some great songs about America, freedom, the price we as Americans pay for freedom, family, love, and God. What could make you more proud to be an American? Well I am proud to be an American even though I love to learn of my roots, heritage, and then try to make traditions from what I learn. I don't see why I can't also be proud from coming from different cultures and backgrounds. God doesn't just bless America. He blesses all of His children from every land and background that belongs to Him. If it wasn't for all that God has done for us from the beginning we wouldn't be where we are today. Yes, it is true that freedom is not free. We as Christians should know that best. For if it wasn't for God giving His only son Jesus for us we could not be free. The price was His life but that is not even the best part! Jesus rose from the dead of the third day and lives forever more! The price was paid and we are free. Thank you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for setting us free! We are never alone, so even though we celebrate Independence Day today and every day; we should be ever dependent on God for the rest of our lives. So in closing "Happy 4th of July" and praise God for all He has done, is doing, and will do for us. Amen!

I couldn't help but to choose both of these pictures!

I Married My Best Friend

June 17, 2011 I married my best friend. God knew exactly what He was doing when He put us together. This is just another adventure to begin and I know it will be amazing! There are many reasons to be so thankful that God put us together. We compliment each other. Where one of us is weaker the other has strength in that area. We do everything together. Having a best friend that is also your spouse is the best thing God has given us outside of a direct family, well that is just my opinion.
On June 17, 2011 we had a small but intimate wedding. There was also a Ukrainian tradition included within the wedding; thanks to my friend/family member/neighbor back in the Carolinas. The Ukrainian tradition was beautiful and I know it came from my  friend/sister Vita's heart. This tradition was bringing of real flowers from the other women attending the wedding to the bride. These flowers that were brought to the bride would become her bouquet. We had a Celtic tradition in the ceremony, Handfasting. The Handfasting gave the wedding just the right amount of Celtic to the beautiful day. This tradition included thirteen colored ribbons and a reading.
I know that I could have not asked for a better man to be my husband and best friend. This adventure, whatever it may bring will always be blessed. I love you my Brian! May God our Heavenly Father continually work in our lives forever and always!

"These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you that are holding yours on this your wedding day as you promise eternal love to each other. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years and with the slightest touch, comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes countless times, tears of sorrow and of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch."

A Sisters Relationship

My sister and I are four years apart. At times she is more like the older and I'm more like the younger, even though it is really the other way around. We weren't always the closest in friendship. It took time but then we were inseparable. We are the best of friends now. We have a sense of humor with each other that at times we can only understand. Having a sister that is also your best friend is one of God's greatest gifts! For Christmas this past year she gave me a "365 Daily Thought and Inspirations I love you, SIS calendar". I share the gift with her daily by sending the quote to her via e-mail. I know through life we may change but no matter what happens I pray that our sister relationship will grow and deepen in love and friendship. If you have a sister my advice to you would be to make the most of your relationship together. I know that I'm truly thankful that my sister and I have become best friends.

Life Before

I'm originally from the south, born and raised. I would have never thought of moving north, well that is until I met my husband. Moving to another country was something else though, I was planning on that. Life before for me was just work, hanging with my best friend (my sister) and saving money. We went on our first airplane together at the same time it was our first time leaving the country. We were headed to Ireland. Ireland is our home away from home. I was planning to move there before I met my husband. My dream was to live in Ireland and become an Irish citizen. I fell in love with Ireland, everything about it. It also helped that my heritage from both my father's and mother's side of the family is from there. There is a lot of Celtic on my father's side. My mother's side is more mixed even though there is Celtic heritage there. That is what I cling to the most. My sister and my dream was to travel the world, to see all of God's creation, all the rich history that was out there. I know it sounds crazy to want move to another country and travel places when one has been sheltered but that was the adventure of it all. This was life before, life before my husband. Now, I am in for a whole new adventure. I do still look forward to the traveling but it is no longer my first priority.
